September 2019

What a busy month September has been! We had the showcase, Felicity Logan workshop, new instructors and MMPS 2019. As mentioned before we are so proud of everyone who performed at the showcase and a massive thank you to all the helpers and the audience. If you haven't already read the showcase blog, you can find it

September started with 5 new instructors joining the Butterfly team. After completing the X-POLE Level 1 and 2 instructor course they are slowly being introduced more into classes. Let me introduce you to: Sally, Morven , Holly , Kayleigh and Jordyn - click their name to be taken to their bio so you can lean a little more about them. As you may have noticed each instructor now has certain days that they help / instruct - why not try different classes to see what you can learn. Jordyn is currently studying at RGU so hasn't got specific classes yet, but watch out for her taking classes when she's on holiday!

This months pole classes have been great and everyone seems to be progressing at an incredible rate. We know you all love a 'Superman' who doesn't?! Every now and again it appears to everyone's dismay, this month it was in every week of class! If you didn't like it before you'll certainly hate it now. Even Jaime got some lovely pole kisses from this months superman, it happens to us all! Until next time Superman...

We had the amazing Goddess herself Felicity Logan! She is bendy, I mean super bendy, she can just bend herself in half and all ways as if it is normal! Unfortunately I couldn't attend her workshop however I do have students feedback and photos to share with you:

"She broke me" was the main response I got, she must have been good. Everyone has said how lovely and patient she was and helped them individually as well with tips and new stretching ideas. Accomplished is also another word used and inspired, I am definitely looking forward to seeing these new moves and stretches in class that you have all been learning. Remember repetition is key! You won't always go to a workshop and pick things up straight away, make sure you keep practicing them, you'll be nailing them in no time.

MMPS 2019

Each year Butterfly Studios presence has grown slowly with more people coming along and entering the competition. In 2017 I did my first ever pole competition and I think I was the one to kick it off to get more people involved. 2018 Jaime decided to join me for her first ever competition and came 3rd in the instructors category, AMAZING!

2019 we have Jaime and two newbies to the competition scene Morven and Kirsty! Morven and Kirsty did the Butterfly Studio Showcase as a doubles and have also preformed in another showcase earlier in the year at Mega Pole, so they were already a little prepared however changing the title from showcase to competition always seems to put the nerves a little higher.

Let me give you a little insight into the world of MMPS - Miss and Mister Pole Scotland. Even though it is in Scotland, there are competitors from all over the UK who apply and perform. To enter you need to send in a video (still video with no editing) of your routine which is then judged and whittled down to the final 8. The routine you send in doesn't need to be what you are going to perform, it could even be of an older routine.

The day of MMPS is an early start as you need to be registered by 12pm/ 1pm even though the event doesn't usually start until 3pm. There is space at the venue to get ready, do your hair/make and such like and it is quite a chilled out space. Categories are always in the same order: Beginners, Intermediate, Advanced, Mature, Instructor, Pro and Doubles, so as you can imagine usually 8 competitors per category. The day itself is long, and if you're not staying over you arrive home about 12:30am, however it does pass quickly as there is always something on.

From what I heard (and also saw with sneaky videos) Jaime, Morven and Kirsty did incredible. They are all happy with their performance and you never know they might be making an appearance next year. I must also say a massive Congratulations to Jaime who placed 3rd this year! Woohoo

Now how can I forget Carly! She also attended MMPS but in a slightly different way, she was there Pole Cleaning! I know a few of you will be thinking oh that's easy, trust me it isn't. Poor Carly has ended up with bruised legs and bits of skin missing! I think next year, she could possibly be competing?!

We would also like to say a huge welcome to all of the new students who have joined us over the past few months. Remember if you have any queries, feedback or anything please contact Jaime through the Butterfly Studio page or website. You can also talk to any of us at pole, we don't bite - honest.

So what can you look forward to in October - Exotics, there isn't one or two but three exotics! These are for all levels to come along and try. See below for dates

It's competition time! To be in with a chance of winning a Butterfly Studio hoody and tote bag simply sign up to the news letter and upload / send a photo of yourself wearing any of the Butterfly merchandise, bottoms, t-shirt, tote...you get the idea. The winner will be announced in next months newsletter blog.
